Crowdfunding is a great way to raise money and we have a few frequently asked questions to help you find out what you need to know.  We’ve tried to pull together some popular FAQs that we think will help you out but if you find that your question isn’t answered here, get in touch on the contact page.

Remember we can’t answer specifics on each project, therefore you’ll need to ask the project owner, but we’ll do our best to help you as a fan, supporter and/or you as a project owner.

Thanks for looking!

Most frequent questions and answers

A crowdfunding campaign, or project, can be for anything an artist chooses to create, from albums and EPs to books, movies and more.  We cover the creative arts world so that includes theatre, food, events, art, photography, film as well as music.

That very much depends on the project and when it finishes.  You’ll need to keep an eye on the project for when the show or event may take place.

On ROCCR.COM, you can create a campaign that the rewards support a charity yes.   Fundraising for a charity though needs to be by the purchase of rewards and experiences and towards delivery of the project.

100%.  By adding our costs to the supporter, or ROCCRs, that means any monies raised is 100% going to the project.  Should the project not raise its target, 100% of the money paid for the reward will go back to the fan/supporter, just not the administration/processing costs.

Each fundraising project will have its own rewards and gift experiences for you to buy.  They’ll be a different costs and levels so you get a great selection of ideas and gifts to buy!

If your favourite artist or project doesn’t have an open project currently, never fear.  You can follow ROCCR on the social media channels and sign up to our newsletter to be kept informed too.

The project owners will be working hard to hit their target and your support is vital in that.  What we are working to ensure is that they do hit their target but that may not always be the case.

In the unlikely event that should that happen, 100% of your donation will be refunded to you back to the card you paid on.  We can guarantee this as the funds are held in the projects own secure account waiting to complete the project.

Unlike other crowdfunding platforms, we’re trying to be transparent about costs and who pays what.

By adding the processing and administration fees on top of the payment, it means that the project gets 100% of the funds you are paying.  It also means, should the project not achieve its target, you’ll get 100% of the money back.  The 10% cost is processing and administration.

We are not a charity but not-for-profit so all costs need to be covered and can’t be done so by donations or by over-charging the projects’ fees for handling their money – which is what happens in a lot of other cases!

Frequently asked questions for Crowdfunding Project Owners

Creating a crowdfunding campaign or project on ROCCR to raise money is a great way to fundraise for a new or existing project or idea and we have a few key questions to help you understand what you need to do to raise money successfully with us.

ROCCR is a limited by guarantee business.  We will aim to make modest profits through raising funds ourselves, covering some costs and additional services charged for promotion, memberships and partners.  Any profits though will be used to reinvest in the site, services and features to help projects achieve more!

It will cost a project owner £99 to submit a project for review and vetting.  This is non-refundable as we’ll need to do a fair amount of checking and setting up.

Any payments will cost the donor, or ROCCRs an administration fee of just 10%.  This covers the remaining costs at this time for delivering the services in the UK.  Overseas projects may attract an additional fee due to costs of card processing fees by our partners.

A crowdfunding project or campaign can be for anything an artist chooses to create, from albums and EPs to books, film and more.  We cover the creative arts so that includes events, theatre, art, photography, food and fashion, TV as well as music.

Projects will run for a certain length of time during which you’ll be able to pledge on it by pre-ordering the final product plus whatever other goodies the artist has to offer. Once you pledge, you’ll unlock all the exclusive updates, videos, and additional content for that project.

That depends on you and what value you can offer.  Ideally this is going to be something ‘money can’t ordinarily buy’.

For example,  a theatre production may offer:

Reward 1 – a ticket to the preview and a signed programme

Reward 2 – a ticket and programme and a ‘meet the director’ meal before the show

Reward 3 – as 2 but a champagne reception after the performance with the cast.

The choices are yours, this is just an idea but could be a real treat for your fans and a great way to raise money for your project.

Unlike other crowdfunding platforms, we’re trying to be transparent about costs and who pays what.

By adding the processing and administration fees on top of the payment, it means that the project gets 100% of the funds paid.

We appreciate that may not suit all businesses so think before you list, there are other ways to raise money, we’re just being transparent about ours.

Simply follow these steps:

  • log in, go to the project dashboard
  • From there use the dropdown for ‘My Campaign’ to click ‘update’
  • Add your update from that menu and save

You can fundraise for a charity yes.  You can’t accept donations with gift aid, that would be for justgiving or something similar however, creating rewards and experiences are a great way to raise money for charity.
